belo

So this week saw the launch of belo which was VERY exciting! belo is a brand that I have been working on for a few months now and to see it finally taking shape and coming together is just great.

Why belo you might ask? Well it took me a very long time to come up with the name and after a few disasterous name ideas, I decided it looked and felt right. belo is Portugese for 'beautiful' and I found it very fitting for the products that it would represent.

belo is going to be housing a number of products but first up is beautiful handbags. After my birthday in January, I decided I would invest in a decent leather handbag. After walking from one end of Gateway to the other and coming out empty handed I realised that there was a HUGE lack of beautiful handbags. That is when belo was first concieved in my mind and after months of planning, designing, and buyiny, belo handbags have arrived!

Thankful Thursday - My Bestie

Today I am indescribably grateful for my best friend, Cals!

I dont know what I would do without her in my life. She is the most caring and loving person I know and nothing is ever too much to ask from her. She is always willing to listen, to comfort, to support, to offer advice and to lift me when I need it most.

God is definitely missing a very precious angel and Im so eternally grateful that He has lent her to us to share our lives in this world.

Cals, you are such a special friend to me and I cannot thank you enough for all you do for me and for all the support you so glady give. I love you lots my precious friend xxx

Motivational Monday - Back on the wagon

Ok so today starts the first of my Motivational Mondays!

I have been rather slack lately with not eating too healthily and not working out so I probably need the motivation more than anyone.

Its a Monday though so I decided to drag my butt to gym after a few weeks off and my oh my did I hurt. Scared to know how my body is going to be feeling tomorrow!

Anyway it was great to start the week off with a good sweat and some deliciously healthy food to eat. Get back on the wagon with me and lets do it together x

Lady and the Punk is a high fashion ladies clothing boutique based in Gateway. You are assured to always find the latest trends instore and if you have a special occasion coming up, they are your go to store to find that sexy little number to WOW everyone.

I caught up with Lis to find out a little more about how the store came about and her views on the fashion industry.

When did you open the store?
Lady and the Punk opened it's doors 5th December 2005

What inspired you to start the brand?
Back then I was a young designer who was stocking other local boutiques, I just decided that I wanted a place of my own where I could sell my Clothing and create a brand that was uniquely me and have all the things that I loved in one store.

What other brands/designers do you stock?
I have stocked a few different designers over the years, I have loved being able to stock and help local talent.  At the moment I stock the gorgeous items from Bianca Kim, Cinnamon, Bianca Warren, Tasha, Baa Baa Accessories and of course Roxstar bikini's

What do you enjoy most about having your own business?
I am not going to sugar coat it, owning your own business can be stressful, there is a lot of pressure as the buck stops with you but I love the freedom that it offers me and that it is something I created, it all comes from my passion for fashion.  Small things make me love what I do, just getting a compliment from a customer can brighten up any day or finding gorgeous stock for the store.  It becomes so personal that you have no choice but to love it.

What is your most enjoyable part of what you do?
I love the buying trips, they are not as glamorous as people may think but they are very inspiring, just getting to see all the new trends and ideas and of course the customers excitement when they see the store fulled with new stock that they love, it makes all the work worth while!

2013 trends to watch out for?
For Winter 2013 the trends which you can expect in Lady and the Punk are Military, loads of metallics, stunning knits, cross prints, American and Union jack inspired items are still big, loads of denim, denim shirt dresses, jackets, cut off jackets, shorts etc.  The Braque theme with very rich brocade fabrics and studs and spikes are also still doing their thing.Houndstooth and Chanel styled tweed Jackets. So loads of exciting new stock coming your way, will be in store by the 20th March!

Thankful Thursday

This Thursday I am extremely thankful for my amazingly talented friend Bron Fourie who is the owner of [Vanilla] Photography.

I was lucky enough to do a photoshoot with Bron on Tuesday and what a fun morning we had. She is so creative and sees things that only a talented photographer would see. Her ideas and direction are incredible so I just sat back and let her take control. I am so excited to see the pics and the work of her talented hands.

Thanks so much bron, you are a super star!

Be sure to visit her website http://vanillaphotography.co.za/ and her interesting blog to find out more about this talented lady.

Brookdale Health Hydro

Ok so im a little behind on my blogging but just bear with me as I catch up . . .

About 2 weeks ago my very special friend Cals invited me to join her for a few days at the Brookdale Health Hyrdo. She had been a few times before and I had always envied her trips there and wished that one day I would be able to be treated to some time there so when she asked me to join her I replied with a big YES without a second thought about it.

"Brookdale focuses on providing an escape from the stresses of everyday life. We offer a quiet place where physical health and mental well-being can be restored to their balance." - http://www.brookdale.co.za/

Cals knows me too well and knew that I most definitely needed some restoration to take place!

Brookdale is like a little piece of heaven in the Midlands where you can go and forget about all your worries and stress of everyday life and just unwind, be kind to your body and renew your mind and soul.

I didnt get off to such a hot start as the day we arrived was the day after Carla's hens party so as you can imagine I wasnt in the best possible shape. The first thing we did was to have a body analysis where they take all your measurements, weigh you and take your blood pressure. My blood pressure was 70/40, the consultant advised that I was half dead to which I agreed!

The next 2 days were action packed with hikes, eating, sleeping, treatments, gym, sleeping, eating, acquecise, sleeping,  treatments, eat, and more sleeping and so our days passed by.

I left there feeling as though I had spent some good quality time with my bestie, my body was thankful for all the delicious, healthy food it had been fed, my body was grateful for the fresh air and exercise and my mind was calm and relaxed and ready to go back to my ordinay life.

Thank you Cals for an unbelievable few days, love you xxx
