Week 4: My Biggest Weakness

Shucks this week is a toughie! My biggest weakness, hmmmm I really have to think hard about this one as nothing immediately jumps to mind. Not that im perfect but at the moment I feel I have quite a few flaws to name so its hard to decide which is the biggest or most meaningful.

I think my biggest weakness at the moment is not being able to prioritize things in my life correctly. In an ideal world this is how things in your life should be prioritized:

*God
*Husband/wife
*Children
*Immediate family
*Friends

I sadly have been getting these very mixed up, and it goes something like this:

*Children - or lack thereof
*Husband
*God
*Friends
*Family

Its taken me a long, tough time to realize that serious changes need to be made in order to get these priorities right again. All 5 are very precious things to me so its very important to me to get them in the right order but because of how precious these people are in my life, its not going to be easy  but with some hard work on my part, and a conscious effort I have faith that all will be well in the end.

I have also come to the realization that some of the things/situations that I put emphasis on in my life, are actually quite meaningless in the greater scheme of things. There is much worse going on in this big bad world of ours compared to the struggles I face.

Its good to take stock of your life every now and again to gain some perspective into your life and you soon realize that things aren't that bad and you have more to be grateful for than you initially thought x

Johns Wedding

One of my best friends, Jane Tate, got married on Saturday. You will remember her from her hens party we had a few weeks ago.

It was such an unforgettable few days which started on Wednesday with her kitchen tea. It was such a lovely afternoon/evening filled with yummy eats, champagne and crockery painting. So well put together!

Thursday evening we then had a braai at Jane's parents house with all of her extended family. It was so great to meet all the special people in janeys life.

Friday morning started off early at the Orchid House, Balitto, to setup the venue. There were many hands to make light work and within 2/3 hours everything had been done and it looked spectacular! It was then off for lunch and some girls pampering time getting our nails done.

Friday night was spent at Janeys folks house again but this time an intimate dinner with her immediate family. It was a special evening spent with the bride-to-be.

Saturday was the big day and Janey looked incredible!! WOW! She was so calm and sure of her decision to marry the man of her dreams, it was heart warming to see. We had such a fun day spent with special friends witnessing the union of 2 amazing people. I know that God will bless and grow their marriage as the years go on.

Janey and B thank you so much for allowing me to be a part of your very special day. Your love is so encouraging and I wish you both all the happiness you truly deserve xxx

Motivational Monday

So we all need a little motivation on a Monday so I will be sharing abit of motivation that sparks my interest to hopefully help you to stay focused on exercising hard and eating healthy each week!

Dont be one of those annoying people who constantly complain but never do anything about it. Weight loss and looking good takes dedication and hard work, stick to it and you will see the results!

July Recipe Challenge - Wk 2 Fish

Serves 4
1 punnet courgettes (about 300g (10.58 ounces)), sliced
2 garlic cloves, finely sliced
300ml (10.14 fluid ounces) Chicken/vegetable stock
3tbsn low fat cream cheese
2 tins Pink salmon
Juice of 1/2 lemon
Salt & black pepper to serve
500g (17.64 ounces) cooked linguini
Chopped chillies, grated pecorino and fresh italian parsley to serve. (I also julienned some courgettes to serve)
  • In a large saucepan, fry the courgettes in some olive oil until the edges start to brown and they are starting to soften.
  • Add the garlic and fry for another minute before adding the chicken stock and cream cheese. Allow to simmer gently for 5 minutes.
  • Add the salmon, lemon juice and season to taste.
  • Serve over the cooked linguini and top with some grated pecorino, sliced chillies and fresh parsley.
I made it to serve 2 so cut down on each ingredient. I also didn't have linguine so used spaghetti instead. I served mine on a bed of wilted baby spinach.

Spectacular Singapore

I was blessed enough to be able to visit Singapore for 3 days last week to visit my special friend Carla (remember she recently got married) and her hubby. I had never been to Singapore before so was really looking forward to it!

I arrived late Thursday night to their amazing apartment. Wow! They are based in Scotts Road which is off Orchard Road which is apparently THE place to be. Carls had done a fab job of decorating their apartment in a contemporary and chic look, really stunning. Carls then dragged me up to the rooftop jacuzzi where we caught up.

Carla was kind enough to take Friday off work to spend the day with me. It was a sunny/cloudy day so we decided to chance our luck, put on our bikinis and headed off to Sentosa island. On the way there the heavens opened. We arrived at Tanjong Beach Club, had a quick look around and hopped straight back in the taxi. We got dropped at Universal Studios and decided to grab a cuppa at Starbucks to decide our plan of action. Much to our dismay we threw in our beach towel, hopped on the train and popped up at the Botanical Gardens. We took a steady power walk through the gardens admiring the beautiful scenery and had a squizz in the National Orchid Garden which has the largest display of tropical orchids in the world, quite spectacular! After that it a quick stop at Ion Orchard for a bite to eat and then back home for a swim to cool off from the insane heat and the a session of boxing with Jude, Carla's trainer.

Friday evening it was dinner at LeVel33 which is on the 33rd floor of one of the buildings surrounding the marina so you can imagine the amazing views.

Saturday started mid-morning with breakfast at Jones the grocer at Ion Orchard followed by some retail therapy. Singapore has all the major brands such as Topshop, H&M, Forever21, New Look etc so we got one or two nice pieces. We managed to fit in some chill time and then a workout to get the blood flowing for the evening ahead. The night started at the magnificent Lantern Bar, Fullerton Bay Hotel where I tasted my first true Singapore Sling. No messing around with those, crumbs! We then made our way down to dinner where we had front row seats at Palm Beach, for an awesome show with military helicopters, jets, lightshow and fireworks. Dinner was the famous pepper crab, bibs and all, and it definitely lived up to its reputation, delicious! My eye had been on the Marina Bay Sands hotel since we arrived so we headed to the top for drinks. Ku De Ta, is the most amazing bar overlooking the whole of Singapore and you can even see Indonesia from up there, truly magical. After a few drinks there it was time to head home for some much needed sleep.

We had a sleepin on Sunday too which was fab as I woke up feeling rather tender. We decided to hop on the City Sightseeing bus to take in the last few sights for the weekend. We popped into the Raffles Hotel with the famous Long Bar where the original Singapore Sling was invented from there it was on to Little India. Little India was abit disappointing. I was hungover and craving samoosas (as you do) and there were none in sight! I forget that proper Indians aren't like a Durban Indians, quite a pity really. Chinatown was the next stop and it was great! Awesome shops and restaurants and had a good Chinese vibe about it, really enjoyed it! From there it was off to lunch at PS CafĂ© which was divine. A stunning, funky cafe in Dempsey Hill. The food was great and the company greater.

I then started my 31 hour trip home which involved flying from Singapore, Bangkok, 4.5 hour wait, Dubai, 6 hour wait, Durban! Decided a needed a little pick me along the way so my watch of 3 years had packed up while away so decided to spoil myself with a new one.

My observations of Singapore:
-it's a super clean city
-Everyone can speak English but talk in riddles most times
-The humidity is guaranteed to bring your inner Monica out
-There are no beggars or homeless people
-Sunday is chaos and becomes a mini Philippines with screaming woman
-The taxi service is efficient and reasonable
-There are 3 types of taxis- luxury, normal and shit boxes
-The air con is always 5degrees lower than it needs to be
-Food and drink are expensive......well most things actually
-There are plenty of awesome restaurants and bars
-Everywhere has wifi
-The marina is spectacularly beautiful and def one of my fav places
-The Singapore dollar is a very strong currency
-They have a pork mall.....ha ha well not really, carls will get this ;)

I had such an unforgettable weekend in an amazing city with special friends who spoilt me rotten xx

Roxstar Model Search

I recently ran a Model Search in search of a fresh new face of Roxstar for Summer 2013/2014.

The competition ran for 1 month and the girls were asked to email through full length bikini shots as well as head and shoulders shots. I was inundated with beautiful girls sending their entries through which made choosing a winner an extremely difficult task!

In the end I decided to have 2 winners as I just could not choose between them! The beautiful new faces of Roxstar summer 2013/2014 are Tyla Gormley and Holly Immelmann. Best of all they are best friends so they photo shoots are going to be super fun!

Well done girls, I am so excited for our first photoshoot!

Week 3: My Life 5 Years From Now

52 weeks of blogging with a purpose:

My life 5 years from now, shew that's quite a toughie.

If there's one thing I've learnt from infertility is that you may have these wonderful plans for your life according to YOUR own timeline but if its not in Gods timing, it simply won't happen.

That aside I would obviously love to be a mother. 5 years from now I would love to be blessed with 2 healthy children.

I hope 5 years from now that my marriage has grown stronger and that my husband and I know each other more deeply than before and that our love has intensified.

When moving into our current home, our goal was to upgrade in 5 years. We would have been there 2 years in July/August so hopefully we will be in a bigger and better home (although I do love our current home!) We would love to live on Mount Edgecome Country Club Estate so we'll see.

I would love to see my business(es) having grown.

In 5 years I hope to have traveling more. I would love to visit by aunt in Sydney, Australia. I would also love to go on another beach holiday and skiing holiday.

I hope to be more involved in the church. I would love to start going on Day Missions and for my faith to grow.

I would love to do/be all of these great things in 5 years but as I said before, only in Gods timing not ours so let's hope he's heard my wishes and blesses me with a few of them ;)
